The best part of working at CollegeReady is doing meaningful work. I have the privilege of working with first generation college bound students and their families and helping them prepare for their future college and career goals. Every team member is also driven by the overarching goal of helping others in our community.
As a first generation college graduate, I understand the gaps in knowing how to prepare for college on a personal level. I participated in Upward Bound and then in the McNairs Scholars program, both federally funded TRIO programs designed to help underrepresented students with college readiness skills. Along with those programs, I had so many people who not only helped me prepare but also believed and encouraged me to go to college. I received my Bachelor of Arts from St. Norbert College in 2013 and a Master of Arts from Marquette University in 2015.
I am a firm believer in reaching back to help others have the same opportunities. I’ve worked with students in various roles for over 7 years, including Spanish-speaking students and their families. I now help first generation students prepare for college and careers as the High School Coordinator for NEW Scholars.
On the weekend you will find me spending time with my family, volunteering my time in the community, grabbing coffee at a local café, reading a book (or multiple books) or a combination of all of those.
I want all the snacks! I definitely have a sweet tooth and enjoy mostly any kind of chocolate or pastries.
