The best part about working at CollegeReady is knowing that I am helping students achieve their goals. Although I love higher education, I do not love the price tag that can come along with it. I know the importance of funding and value CollegeReady’s desire to match students to local funding sources. I also think it is very unique and admirable that CollegeReady scholarships are funded by the community and have been for over 50 years!
I have been working in education for more than 15 years. My background is in Art Education and I have worked with students from ages 6 to 80+. I have taught at the college level as well as through numerous community spaces and art centers. A year or so ago, took a position that moved me from Art Education into more general education in the realm of college readiness and learned a ton about the need for college readiness programs and funding to pursue higher education. I knew right away that this would be my future because it would allow me to make a larger impact when helping students.
On weekends, I enjoy hanging with my partner, Drew, listening to our extensive physical music collection (think vinyl, CD’s, and cassette tapes), making art (printmaking and basket making), reading, and snuggling with our cat Molly.
SUMMER! I chose summer because I have recently fallen in love with gardening. I always wanted a garden, and I finally had the opportunity to start one last summer. Although it was small, it was mighty and I am excited to expand this upcoming summer. I also love water activities including paddle boarding and swimming.
