About CollegeReady

Founded in 1962 as Scholarships, Inc., CollegeReady is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Green Bay, Wisconsin that provides financial and academic support to college-bound students.

Our mission is to encourage and invest in area students to succeed in higher education.

CollegeReady creates hope and brighter futures for youth of all backgrounds in Northeast Wisconsin. Through scholarships and college readiness programming, we help students break down barriers to higher education and change their lives.

Thank you for your interest in NEW Scholars Take Center Stage!

This annual year-end celebration recognizes the accomplishments of our NEW Scholars participants, who are underrepresented, first-generation students in the Green Bay Area Public Schools.

The hallmark of this event is a special signing ceremony for our graduating seniors, during which they sign their letter of intent to attend their chosen college/university. They are joined on the stage by their family and those who have supported their dream to become the first person in their family to earn a college degree. Many of these graduates have been participating in the NEW Scholars program since the 6th grade!

Joining us to welcome these deserving students to college is UW-Green Bay Chancellor Michael Alexander and NWTC President Dr. Kristen Raney. Also featured are two graduates who will share remarks on the challenges and personal growth they’ve experienced on their path to higher education.

This year our event is at UW-Green Bay’s Weidner Center on Wednesday, May 22nd. Doors open at 5:45pm and the program begins at 6:30pm, with a social/reception to follow.

Our Programs

Scholarships

Each year, CollegeReady provides over $500,000 in college scholarships to hundreds of students in Northeast Wisconsin. We are proud to have awarded over $13.4 million in scholarships over the past 61 years.

In 2023, CollegeReady awarded more than $507,000 in scholarships to deserving college-bound students.

College Readiness

CollegeReady’s NEW Scholars college readiness program is an afterschool program available to Green Bay middle and high school students who will be the first in their family to earn a college degree.

Through academic support, college prep, parent workshops, service learning, and so much more, NEW Scholars breaks down barriers to higher education that exist for many low-income and first-generation students. Fundamental components of the program include reading, writing, character development, and parent engagement.

Participating students earn up to a $5,000 scholarship to the college/university of their choice.

NEW Scholars is pronounced “new” (not “n.e.w.”)
